About Us

The only specialist comedy agency providing comics for the UK military.

Mess About was born out of years of experience performing for military audiences in the UK and around the world.

OUR MISSION

The aim is to provide a bespoke, cost effective procurement option for Mess functions, Regimental events and Awards nights.

Time and again Messes and Units are being overcharged by Agents with no knowledge of the comedy circuit , then subcontracting to another agent or booker. This meant that by the time a comic was approached, the fee had already been cut by 2 or more organisations.

As is so often the case with procurement, the UK military are paying too much and not getting good value. Military audiences are the best possible crowd for comedy, but they require a special kind of comic, and a specialist booker to provide that comic. Mess about will use experience and expertise to provide you with the best possible comedian for your event

ABOUT THE FOUNDER

Nick Page started comedy after a stag party bet with a former Royal Marine, he’s still not sure if he won.

Years later he’s performed all over the world, reached the live finals of Britain’s Got Talent despite having no sob story and never watching the show and won the prestigious ‘English Comedian Of the Year’ which led to sell out shows at the Edinburgh Fringe and Australian Comedy Festivals.

He was recruited by BFBS to perform in Afghanistan , and was awarded the Operational Service Medal after 8 tours there (more days than most logistics officers!) and spent nearly a year in Cyprus hosting the Decompression shows at Camp Bloodhound between 2009 and 2014.

In total Nick has performed nearly 1000 gigs for military audiences, including raising over a million pounds at auction for the RMA, shows in Poland, Estonia, Germany, Turkey, Italy, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Oman, Kurdistan and across the UK and Ireland.

It’s this experience and expertise that will ensure that the acts we choose for you will be the best possible for your audience. Funny, but appropriate to the sensitivities and concerns of the modern military .

Over the last 15 years we’ve performed in every part of the UK and all over the world. A gig in the Falklands that holds the record for the most spent at the bar in one night, a fundraiser for The Royal Marines Charity that raised over a million pounds in one night, a festival for the Royal Engineers where we got 12000 people playing heads or tails and hush hush gigs for Special Forces and nuclear sub crews
